Filters in Nurture

Overview

Filters help you quickly find and organize people based on their engagement.

Instead of scrolling through your entire database, you can focus on:

  • Who needs follow-up
  • Who is actively engaged
  • Who is ready for a next step

This allows your team to move from reactive care → intentional ministry.

Creating Custom Filters

What Are Filters?

Filters allow you to narrow down your congregation based on specific criteria.

Think of filters as a way to answer questions like:

  • Who hasn’t attended recently?
  • Who is new to our church?
  • Who has been baptized?
  • Who recently had a birthday?
  • Where is my serve team?
    • Worship, production, kids etc.
  • Where is my group?
    • Young adults, women's bible study, men’s ministry etc.

How to Create a Filter

  1. Navigate to the People tab
  2. Select the filter options at the top
  3. Choose criteria such as:
    • Baptized
    • Engagement category (Attendance, Serving, Groups, Giving)
    • Engagement status (New, Potential, Active, At Risk, Disengaged, Inactive)
    • Membership
    • Serve Team
    • Group
    • Demographics and more
  4. Apply the filter
  5. You can also find many of these criteria in your filters within your alerts and opportunities.
  6. Save these filters for instant access and consistent use.

Your results will update instantly.

Best Practices for Filters

  • Focus on one ministry goal at a time
  • Save commonly used filters for quick access

Filters work best when they help you:
quickly identify who needs attention.

Campus Filters

Why Campus Filters Matter

If your church has multiple campuses, it’s important to localize care. You may only be assigned to one campus but if you are assigned to more than one, utilizing campus filters is important.

Campus filters allow you to:

  • View congregants by location
  • Assign follow-up to the right campus team
  • Ensure people are cared for in their local context

How to Use Campus Filters

  1. Navigate to the People or Alerts/Opportunities tab
  2. Select the Campus filter
  3. Choose the desired campus

You’ll now see only the congregants connected to that location.

Best Practices for Campus Filters

  • Use campus filters during staff or campus-specific meetings
  • Combine with engagement filters for more targeted lists
  • Assign follow-up to leaders within that campus

This ensures:
care stays personal and local, not centralized and distant.

Using Filters for Ministry

Filters help your team:

  • Prioritize who to follow up with
  • Assign responsibility clearly
  • Track progress over time

Instead of asking:
“What should we do next?”

You can ask:
“Who specifically are we going to care for this week?”

Why This Matters

Without filters:

  • People get lost in the system
  • Follow-up becomes inconsistent
  • Ministry becomes reactive

With filters:

  • You focus on the right people
  • Your team acts with clarity
  • Care becomes intentional and scalable

Final Thought

Filters help you see clearly.

They allow your church to:shepherd people with clarity, consistency, and purpose.
